The Flying Lake

According to an old tale, long ago all lakes were flying, searching for a place to land once they had been given a name. The Flying lake is a conceptual design poised for its eventual landing — envisioned as an observation deck nestled within the marshlands and crafted from steel and mirrors.
The two-level structure blends into the landscape, both literally and conceptually reflecting its surroundings to create the illusion of vanishing boundaries. Seemingly floating above the reeds and ponds, it offers visitors an elevated vantage point and a closer connection to the horizon.
The project grew from the author’s connection to nature and was influenced by the constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021. Along the Baltic coast and its neighbouring flat marshlands, there are remarkable opportunities to experience the wilderness, although the simple luxury of an elevated viewpoint is not always readily available.
